PATTERN NOTES - must read...
Numbers in ( ) at the end of each round/row indicate the total number of stitches.
Always use stitch markers to mark your rounds.
There's no need to sl st and/or ch when going to the next round unless stated to do so.
Always do the 1st stitch where you slip stitch from the previous round.
The chain, in the beginning, does NOT count as one stitch unless stated otherwise.
You slip stitch on the first sc, not on top of the chain 1.

SPECIAL STITCHES...
Picot Stitch - ch3, insert hook into the 3rd chain from hook, y/o & draw up the yarn through all the loops.
It is said they carry wandering spirits to the place where they belong so they can move on.

ASSEMBLE
I recommend pinning the pieces in place before sewing them to make sure you have them in the position you like best before sewing. (Most people like to use the yarn at the end of the finished pieces to sew them in place, but I personally like to use matching thread).
TIP...For anything that I’m going to be using felt, I like to first sketch it out on a white paper and make a stencil of what I need. Then cut it out. Then tape the stencil to the felt and cut it out.
HEAD..flatten up the stitches from the top portion (round 1). Using the tail we left, whip stitch across the top. This should form on each end a pointy tip (like shown in the picture below), these will be the ears.
PUMPKIN...using orange yarn (about a 72" strand), we're going to be inserting it in the middle of the top and looping it to the bottom. Do this about 5 more times to make it look like a pumpkin instead of a sphere.
HEAD to PUMPKIN...if you haven't already stuff the head lightly. Try to center it on the middle and it should go up to round 6 all over. You will only be sewing round 5 of the head to the pumpkin, leaving round 6 unsew.
STEM... roll up the stem from round 1 and sew it to keep it in place. Place the stem to the top of the head with the roll up portion facing back.
FEET...stuff them lightly. Place them between round 14 and 17.
CARVINGS IN THE PUMPKIN...using yellow felt make 2 circles. Place them between round 10 and 12.
EYES...with the yellow felt make 2 tiny ovals. Place them on the head between round 2 and 3; approx. 0.5" apart.
MOUTH & FANGS...using charcoal thread or embroidery floss make its mouth between round 4 and 5. You can play around with it and make it however you like, the possibilities are endless.
With white thread or embroidery floss make 2 tiny triangles on each end of the mouth for the fangs.
